First, because as a solopreneur, you ARE your business, and if you don’t have photos on your website, it will prevent your ideal clients from really getting to see you as a real person, begin to relate to you, begin to know, like and trust you. And these are some of the MOST important first steps in marketing.

And second, if you HAVE photos on your website – but something about them just feels off, wrong or inauthentic – you will hesitate when it comes to sharing your website and marketing your business.

So, what are “the right” photos that you need?

By “the right” photos, I mean photos that feel completely, authentically like you.

For example, I worked with a client this year on a photo shoot in Pismo Beach, California. This was a last minute shoot. After we started taking pictures, I knew that something was off. And when we talked, it ended up that while she felt like she looked really nice, and thought her outfit reflected how she “should” look as an entrepreneur, she just didn’t feel like herself.

So I backed up asked her a bunch of questions that I usually ask in my pre-shoot consult- such as what “feeling like herself” meant. What type of clothes? What type of location? What type of feeling?

And guess where we ended up? At this super cute and picturesque country market down the road – complete with goats and chickens – and my client in her favorite outfit – jeans and plaid shirt.

The result? She LOVED her photos. She loved them because they felt like her, and when she looked at them, they made her smile. And now – she’s excited to share her social media pages and use them on her website. She told me it was an amazing breakthrough and made such a difference in terms of her energy around her business.
